Chokehold A Netflix movie from Turkey about a couple who start a new peaceful life in a seaside village, but they soon discover that everyone in the village is an enemy who wants to kill them.

A thrilling and suspenseful movie that follows a storyline filled with suspicious questions about why the villagers are willing to kill the protagonist’s husband. The movie starts with little explanation, Only news from TV reporting his release from prison on a fraud charge. The story gradually unravels through the characters, each revealing a piece of the puzzle that eventually leads to a shocking conclusion. The explanation behind the motive is revealed in the end, through the last victim who helps uncover the true evil in this story.
The movie tries to sell its intensity by portraying the revenge-driven victims attempting to kill the protagonist in short fight scenes that end with him defending himself, leading to repeated murders and attempts to conceal the bodies that make the story increasingly bleak. However, this becomes an extreme overkill as the murder scenes and hidden bodies are too easily shown without any witnesses or sounds of the fights. Moreover, dragging the bodies out to dispose of them in a distant forest only adds to the disbelief that this is a continuous murder spree that he can easily survive. These scenes serve only to showcase the consequences of his actions, but they contradict the idea that someone with such a dark past would willingly put themselves in a situation surrounded by people who hate them from the beginning, and the reasons behind it are not very clear.
The ending of the story tries to take a direction opposite to the entire plot. It is an ending that is unlike any other simple story endings. It intends to address all the problems in the story, but it can be achieved only if there is money involved. All the characters are money-driven, behaving irrationally without any reason.
