[No One Will Save You review]Emotionally Feeling by the combination of the supernatural, ghosts, and strange creatures!

No One Will Save You

Summary

In summary, this is a movie with a very interesting concept of taking a conventional aliens storyline and turning it into an exciting horror+creature Monster feature. The main focus is on playing with the protagonist’s psychological trauma, resulting in minimal dialogue throughout the film, forcing the audience to understand the story through various clues. It’s not very straightforward and can be challenging to grasp, which leads to a somewhat confusing ending that deviates from the established theme. As a result, it becomes a movie that’s enjoyable to watch but falls short of what it could have been.

No One Will Save You Review (No Spoilers)

The sci-fi film with a modest budget of around $22.8 million, directed by Brian Duffield (previously known for writing “The Babysitter” and “Love and Monsters”), explores the intriguing concept of extraterrestrial beings invading a city. It employs the popular science fiction trope of ordinary Alien shapes into towering, slender, and eerie figures, but it delves into the horror genre, incorporating elements of ghostly films and monster creature features. The film gradually reveals these enigmatic beings, showcasing scenes of stealth and suspense, with home-based confrontations taking center stage (though there are also scenes outside the home, they remain within the immediate vicinity). This approach aligns well with the film’s low budget, resulting in an atmospheric and thrilling experience that feels like a paranormal movie turned alien. Additionally, there are eerie moments, such as furniture moving and self-opening TVs, malfunctioning phones, and the aliens themselves adopting contemporary ghost-like movements, including walking and crawling in abnormal conditions.

Furthermore, this story is set in a rural town where each house is far apart, This makes it convenient to utilize this idea easily. It also turns the subsequent events into something abnormal, resembling “Body Snatchers,” an alien movie where they take over human bodies. This blending of ideas from various popular films works well together and keeps the movie exciting throughout.

The CGI work for various-sized alien scenes, including normal-sized, small, and towering aliens as tall as houses, along with the light emanating from their spacecraft and scenes of their spacecraft hovering over the town, has all been executed impressively and satisfactorily within a low-budget movie context.

However, the major issue with this is that it attempts to merge the main character’s life story, which is speakable, but does not make much effort to have actual dialogue. The film only has a few words spoken by her, and even her screams are almost nonexistent (though Kaitlyn Dever, the actress, does well). Instead, it tries to communicate through visual elements, letters, a dollhouse, making the audience try to piece together on their own what is on her mind, which often makes the narrative take several detours. Like look at her photographs with great interest, leaving the viewers perplexed as to why suddenly seems interested. And it takes this issue as the ultimate resolution of the story, which is likely to leave everyone puzzled with the ending scene. Although the writer may not be puzzled by the idea of the ending scene, it raises questions about why they did not choose to conclude the story at a point that could have been much more satisfactory. Like the moment when Alien takes over her body and she wakes up startled, it leaves you wondering whether this is a dream or reality?
