[Secret Invasion 6 EP Review] New exciting storyline for the MCU, but still not enough to amazing! (no spoilers).

Secret Invasion 6 EP

Summary

The series is worth watching as a stepping stone before diving into “The Marvels.” While it may not be the absolute best or most entertaining due to its change in storytelling approach, leaning towards a secretive conspiracy theory genre, it still boasts a high production budget and a satisfying overall execution, even if it falls of the budget’s grandeur. Nonetheless, it presents an opportunity to explore diverse avenues beyond the traditional formula of using powers to defeat villains, it opens up possibilities for future storytelling in diverse ways.

Secret Invasion 6 EP Review (no spoilers)

Prior to the theatrical release of ‘The Marvels‘ at the end of the year, there will be an interconnecting Disney+ series that includes the storyline of ‘Ms. Marvel‘ While it’s expected that moviegoers who haven’t watched the series might still understand the main plot, they may not have the same level of in-depth familiarity as those who followed the timeline consistently. Marvel acknowledges this concern and is making efforts to reduce the number of Marvel series based on recent news.

The highlight of this story is having Kyle Bradstreet , the director from the popular series “ Mr. Robot ” with a specific focus on IT, psychology, hacking, and this story continues in a similar vein. It aligns well with the concept of conspiracy theories and world destruction that was set up. It involves Skrulls, the ones that Nick Fury had previously helped and even promised to find a new home for,But Nick was affected by Thanos and disappeared, only to come back as a different person, leaving them behind on Earth. they took over and planned to destroy the world, using their ability to shape-shift into anyone. Many Skrulls took over the bodies of various people in the world, keeping the original individuals captive and absorbing their experiences. This turns the story into a suspenseful espionage genre, with several old characters being secretly replaced, including Nick himself. The series uses this aspect to deceive the audience, making them wonder if this is the real character or an imposter. The plot has both subtle hints and major unresolved issues concerning the timeline of the characters being replaced, leaving room for further revelations in future episodes. Despite this, the audience enjoys this aspect of the story and is captivated by it.

In addition to the shape-shifting aspect, this series also emphasizes the use of well-known actors. For instance, Emilia Clarke from HBO’s Game of Thrones portrays Talos’ daughter, who is a Skrull and Nick’s significant character in the story. She plays a central role similar to Nick. Moreover, Olivia Colman plays Sonya Falsworth, the leader of an organization who becomes another prominent character in the series. The show also reveals Nick’s wife, Priscilla, portrayed by Charlayne Woodard, who is a Skrull. This introduces a dramatic twist to their relationship, which had not been previously explored, and she remains an important character in the future as well.

Normally, TV series often have lower budgets, leading to fewer action scenes or lower-quality CGI. However, this series is quite the opposite, as it is a Marvel series with the highest production budget of 212 million US dollars. It was primarily filmed in England and even features fictional locations like a nuclear power plant in Russia. The series has more scenes than many previous shows, including action-packed sequences with large-scale gunfights, massive explosions, and the impressive abilities of Gravik (played by Kingsley Ben-Adir), the main villain Skrull, who possesses more than just shape-shifting abilities. All of these elements are executed impressively, though not reaching the highest level of quality. Despite being surpassed in viewership only by Ms. Marvel, which had the lowest audience, this series can still be considered a bit disappointing considering the high production budget invested.

The main drawback of this series is likely the preference of viewers who may not enjoy or resonate with the direction in which the story unfolds. If someone likes it, they will definitely enjoy it, but those who dislike it will probably realize it from the beginning. The writer himself seems to be fond of Mr. Robot but not a huge fan of Marvel. This series is all about liking the storytelling approach, with hidden secrets throughout, but it may not be everyone’s favorite. Additionally, the character of Nick undergoes a change in the storyline, transforming into an older version, showing signs of weariness, lacking the intense charisma of the previous Nick that we’ve seen. While Samuel L. Jackson portrays this transition admirably, the change can be a bit tiring to follow.

Overall, this Marvel series is still worth watching, even though it may not be the absolute best or most entertaining, due to its change in storytelling approach. It provides an opportunity to explore different avenues beyond the traditional formula of shooting powers to defeat villains. it opens up possibilities for future storytelling in diverse ways.
