[One More Time Review Netflix] A time-loop narrative with repetitive elements that lack any novelty.

One More Time

Summary

Overall, the movie has a typical plot from a first-time director, so there’s nothing particularly impressive about it. However, the story is still enjoyable with its nostalgic time loop and flashback scenes, which resonate well with the Gen X audience who long for that period of time. (But if not, there’s no reason to watch this movie either.)

One More Time The Swedish teen fantasy film on Netflix tells the story of a 40-year-old woman whose life has fallen apart. On her 40th birthday, she gets into a car accident and wakes up as an 18-year-old teenage girl in the year 2002. It seems like a second chance at life for her, but she soon realizes that this is like a curse that keeps her stuck in a loop of reliving the same day over and over again.

One More Time Review Netflix (no spoilers)

The plot of this time loop and time travel film is not a new concept, as there have been many films before that used this idea. It all started with the classic movie Groundhog Day in 1993, and since then, there have been many movies that followed the same plot until it became a repetitive theme like zombie movies. Each story tries to find a way to break the time loop and make the day different from the previous ones. In this film, they reference Groundhog Day to show that in order to break the time loop, the protagonist must improve her life. They experiment with living their day differently, following the same formula of this genre. If you have watched many movies of this genre before, you may find it boring and not feel like finishing it.

However, the movie still has some points that can make it different and worth following. From the plot point of view, the movie ties the story’s outcome to a time capsule that the protagonist and her friend buried, but never dug up because they parted ways. The movie tries to keep this secret hidden by dropping hints along the way, although it’s not too difficult to guess what’s inside. People who are able to guess and anticipate what’s going on at this point will probably want to keep watching until the end to find out how the story concludes and how the protagonist will break free from the time loop. However, it is still a finale that many other stories have done before.

The actress herself is not particularly attractive or charming, but she played the role of a sourpuss well in that era. Her friend, on the other hand, was more charming than both children and adults. However, it’s a pity that the character had a small role, even though she was an important key to the story.

Overall, the movie has a typical plot from a first-time director, so there’s nothing particularly impressive about it. However, the story is still enjoyable with its nostalgic time loop and flashback scenes, which resonate well with the Gen X audience who long for that period of time.
